We enter a number of events as a club so that juniors and parents can support and encourage each other.


Junior / Youth Swim Sessions

(8-16yrs) Saturdays, 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm, at Northbrook Swimming Pool, Beacon Lane, Exeter EX4 8LZ. Cost £3.

Junior and Youth  squad members should be able to swim at least 100 metres front-crawl, non-stop, and have reached NTP Level 8.

Please note: These sessions are not swimming lessons but are triathlon-specific training workouts.

Entry requirements:

  • Juniors and youths should be Exeter Tri Club members, aged 8-16 yrs as of 31 December in the current year.
  • Must be able to swim at least 100 metres front crawl, non-stop, and have achieved ASA Stage 8 or equivalent

Swimmers will be allocated a lane which best suits their ability. The sessions are designed and aimed at developing our young athletes. Each swim session will include a warm up, a main set and a swim down.

 What do you need to bring?

  • Swim trunks/costume (one-piece for girls, trunks or jammer style shorts for boys
  • Goggles
  • Towel
  • Swim hat (ETC quality silicone hats £3.50)
  • Training aids: Pull buoy, kickboard, training fins
  • Drink in non-breakable sports bottle
  • £3 session fee

aldi_adParents – You are welcome to spectate from the benches at the side of pool, but we kindly request that you leave the coaching to the coaches. We like to encourage our swimmers to be independent, and expect them to come prepared with all they require for the session. We will be more than happy to talk to you after the session if you wish. If you are leaving the premises, please make sure we have the correct emergency contact number.

Coaches – Our coaches range from BTF Level 1 to level 2 triathlon coaches and ASA Level 1 or above swim coaches, DBS checked and are willing & qualified volunteers who are themselves members of Exeter Tri Club.

Friday Night Junior Track Sessions

Exeter Arena, Sumer Lane, Friday’s from 5pm-6pm

Friday night training sessions are all about building the skills needed for triathlon and having fun in the process. They include a combination of warm up, skill work such as ladders, and a set with a variety of distances each week.

Sessions are run by Charlie Sumner,  Level 2 Triathlon coach.

During the summer we will also offer bike sessions at different closed circuit or off road locations. For further info please speak to the junior coaches.
